New publication on AI-based solder paste printing in electronics production in Computer in Industry
There is widespread discussion within the general public about the competitiveness of the German industry. AI for sure, will play a crucial role in driving efficiency in industrial value creation. With the vision of the autonomous factory in mind, together with Siemens, we dissected solder paste printing in electronics production.
We improved the printing procedure based on adaptive AI-based causal control. Our method (“aAICC”) employs either offline optimization (open loop) or online optimization (closed loop), or both in combination. We based open-loop control on a genetic algorithm (for optimization) and an machine-learning algorithm (for prediction), and closed-loop control employs a model predictive control (MPC) to dynamically adjust the printing parameters.
